Should we now copy all or part of the TITLE ?
All the time I see titles being adjusted, but not so on the cover. Like The Mummy - Tomb of the Dragon Emporer, Tomb of the Dragon became Emporer, when it really is The Mummy - Tomb of the Dragon Emporer.
In the case of Jurrasic Park 2, that's different, because it's already called The Lost World by itself.
Atlantis - The lost Empire and Atlantis - Milo's adventure, the last one suddenly becomes Milo's Adventure, which is NOT the title on the COVER and the MOVIE .
Does this not make the database cluttered?
Soon someone will come looking for a film and cannot find it, because the title has been abbreviated in the manner mentioned above. So he / she thinks, it is not there and then enters it. Later he appears twice in it.
Why is this done and why doesn't the title remain THE TITLE as entered?

Has a bit to do with the amount of letters in the picture overview. See somewhere on the forum at the Austin Powers discussion

Those titles have been changed by administrators in accordance with the agreement made about them. See also the notes to the title field on the entry form (Walt Disney's Cinderella and Monty Python's Life of Brian). The main reason is that most users use the photo gallery and you want to be able to see a distinction there. For example, if only “Walt Disney’s” or “The Mummy” appears under each photo because the title always starts with that but is cut off in the photo gallery, it can be confusing. In any case, it doesn't add much.
In the “original title” field, the title is entirely possible. Soon you will also be able to search for that better.

If something nice came to mind, look up "The Hunchback of Notre Dame".
You have a part 1 and part 2, behind part 2 it says II and so the title stays that way, but do you see the difference in the title?
Why the difference in title, while you already have it visually as a picture?

One more thing I notice, one item with Blabla 2 - Blah and another item with Blabla 2 - Blah, one item stays the same and the other just Blah.
Like that Whistleblower stays that way and Pocahontas II is then removed again.

Listen, you're pissed off because you're essentially right and despite the agreement of entering, something has apparently changed.
A title is a title, you are absolutely right about that, but .. that title also often contains the series / hero, which no longer has to be in the first field from now on.
Place the title at the first field. In the event that the hero / series name is also included, you now only do that last title. In 90 vd 100x films have only 1 title, which is and will remain the same and simple.
An example:
Lost, series 1 was Lost - Series 1 and is now Series 1.
Another example:
Be Cool is and will remain Be Cool
Another example:
Bean - The Ultimate Disaster Movie =
now The Ultimate Disaster Movie.
So without Bean, that is already the series / hero and in the 2nd field as the original title also mentioned.
Now the 2nd field, in this it is very important to take over the entire original film title 1 on 1. Clear and simple. Example: In the case of a subtitle after hero it becomes: "Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emporer, The". So in the 2nd field with a: in between. The and so on always at the end !! Be Cool is and will remain Be Cool, Be Cool 2 is Be Cool 2 etc. It has been promised that people will be able to search for this later, this will be the most important field because this is the only field with the original and full movie title.
In the 3rd field comes the series / hero and again very important: in case the film title is more important and especially better known as the “hero” then we simply fill in both .. No one bothered by everyone happy. Example: John Landon is the "hero" in the Angels & amp; movies. Demons and in The Da Vinci Code. To get the films in 1 series, we use that character as hero and also add the film title. That prevents what you said before, the films can then be found by their letter.
Have I explained it to you so clearly and satisfactorily?
Edit: If so, don't lean back anymore but help ... in essence you just like it too, right?
Can you put my input in your collection and I can use yours, etc. heading.

Lol, and what if the original title differs from the title on the cover? ; P
Even then, you haven't brought up the point of my Pocahontas and Whistleblower. It's Pocahontas II - Ries to a New World and Whistleblower II - Secret.
The Whistleblower will stay that way, but poca will be changed again to only Journey to a new… wtf is that then?
Hope the new search system is clear and very good for finding everything.
NB: Just don't have any more DVD 's except for children's films, which I will add later or someone has to get ahead of me. : P

There is only 1 original movie title joke dress, which was given at release.
Ries is Reis? So quickly out of my head without looking at the history, a mistake by an administrator. So the hero is in both, subtitle is then sufficient in the first field.
Look, look, it works .. :)

Ahum, seriously. Your question:
“what if the original title differs from the title on the cover?”
Then you put the original title in the 2nd field, 1 to 1. The deviation or cough title may then be in the first field.
In this way we absorb them both well.

One correction: If a hero has been entered, we will never ALSO include the movie title as hero. They will be removed.
It is possible, however, to have it added to a known title as an alias, so that the hero is found when the film title is searched.
We do not include the film title because, for example, the scene for curiosities must be linked to one hero, otherwise it will become really unclear…
By the way, I do not intend to spend a lot of time with a user who says everywhere that he is quitting and then continues to post these kinds of postings. I prefer to put that time into active users.

Ok… so I should suddenly put everything from Disney in English, or change the original title to the full Dutch title?
It will work, but good ... enough now, I will enter, if I have something that is not there yet, and if it is not correct it will probably be adjusted.

@ Arco
Pellucidar is clear when it comes to answers.
There are just some things that are / were not clear and are now a bit clearer.
Quitting is just going crazy about how to insert it and how to get the titles.
In the beginning, "whole titles as they appear on the spine" had to be entered, later only the sub and if the main title does not continue in the sub.
Make a good and complete list with HOW to add a carrier. Just everything in 1 post in 1 topic and clearly with examples.
If I finally can view my entire DVD list and sort it by series / hero + title + number in series WITHOUT a part but having to select from the selection bar, I'm fine with it.
Hopefully you still want to put your energy into that. In that explanation WITH examples.

Your last comment is personal and understandable, but I also understand AvdP.
He sees one title like that, and the other like that. That is not clear and can be irritating.
Regarding the correction, I agree with one caveat because if no human knows the "hero" (character), and the whole world knows the movie title, then there is little point in creating such a hero and recording it. except for series coupling. In such a case, the film title (series) should be added, I think. Do you agree?
I won't come but with that caveat, I could Angel & amp; Demons not found at the A and Da Vinci Code not at D. I have seen both films, multiple times and I still did not find “John Landon”.
If this can be taken into account, does this also seem clear to me?

Andre, You certainly don't have to translate titles. Titles on the cover usually also correspond to the given release title (read: original). A French film usually has the English title in miniature under the English, in such a case you put the French in the original and the English in the first field.
2 or ll just stands for part? For example Kameleon 2.
This is part of the original movie title and belongs in the 2nd field. In the first too, by the way.
I am now trying to make your proposal of a clear list here .. still things will evolve.

Look, clearly, in the case of John Landon (Robert Langdon in the books AND movies) it's just not clear where to look. Pirates can also come under hero Jack ... or Will ... good.
Series / Hero, if not clear, just movie title. In the case of James Bond, just James Bond.
With comics the series are large and often you pick the title of the album, not the hero himself.
So, I think the same way here, I grab the title, the FULL title. But that is not the intention.
Well everything clear. I'll check if I can enter something here.

Laugh at that comment.
Okay, then again go through the Disney's and all 2, II, 3 and III stuff away and leave the Subs. Like the rest btw…: S
Series / Hero is merged with the sub, originally the full title is independent of the language.
Great, if I have it that well, then I know how and I will continue to work with me in the future, when I buy some films again. Haven't really bought much more in a while.
I sometimes get a few children's films out of my closet and I still schedule them on the site.

There is someone, KUCH downforce KUCH , who please enter DVD 's, but every time forgetting to insert Series / Hero, emailed him twice explaining what to enter in Series / Hero. Don't know if an admin / administrator can point it out to him. Even after two emails, I still see him entering it SO, so WITHOUT Series / Hero. Everything entered by this person is now listed under miscellaneous.
Arco and I have already set many things right. Otherwise, it would now be 2 pages full of "various" Series / Hero.

It probably helps if the completion instructions state that for one-shots the title can be entered as a hero (with a possible article after it).
Another problem with the mentioned user is that he does not have a scanner and gets his images from elsewhere on the internet. We do not welcome this, but if this is done very meticulously, there is not immediately a man overboard. In any case, we cannot allow imports with images that have been watermarked by another site.
Unfortunately, for example, I have already seen English inlays in Dutch films. because he is confused by the wrong image. It really becomes a mess and that is detrimental to the reliability of Catawiki.
If this phenomenon is going to be widespread, we will really have to disapprove it in the interest of all users.

Added as an explanation for series / hero:
The hero of the movie or the series name if multiple parts have been released (eg “Die Hard”). If this film title stands alone and is not part of a series, the title can be entered as series / hero. If the title starts with an article then this must be placed at the end of the name (eg “English Patient, The”).
