Als drummer stond Taylor eind jaren '60 aan de wieg van het succes van de band van David Crosby, Stephen Stills en Graham Nash, & Neil Young.
De drummer is te horen op zeven succesvolle albums van Crosby, Stills & Nash (& Young), waaronder het gelijknamige debuutalbum en de klassieker Déjà Vu. Met de groep trad hij op tijdens het legendarische muziekfestival Woodstock in 1969.
Dallas speelde ook drums op het solo-album van Stephen Stills. In 1974 drumde hij voor Van Morrison.
