Is there a handy way to list composers in classical music? Now I put the composer after the title of the single or lp, but it would be more convenient if there was a separate input field for that.

Agree, you could enter this in details, but a separate field below the artist is desirable.
because many artists do not write their songs themselves, and then it is nice to know who wrote the songs.
so you can also see what eg stevie wonder wrote for other artists.
I like these facts

Seems like a good idea too!
Only you should make it visible via a pop up.
To keep it clear.
See “ 840213 ” is sure that Elvis is most has not written maybe not one.
see what kind of list you get & gt; 30 writers
Then of course we want to see which number of which writer.
sometimes I mention it in specifics
does not find the way.
as with collection albums “ 885819 ” gives a lot of information but whole series . Do you want to see that immediately when you search / view an album
It does indeed like fun facts

I would also like to keep it simple, only now you cannot search for the composer (eg Beethoven), but only the performer (eg Berliner Philharmoniker)

We want to record the tracks separately, such as the Stories to books and comics. Then the artist (s) and composer (s) can be listed per track. We will of course transfer the information in the current Tracks field automatically.
The annoying thing is that with a classical record / CD of 1 composer, the same composer must be entered for each track. Perhaps we can think of something in the interface that you can enter this for all tracks at once.

It is urgently time that something is done about this problem:
A) Classical Music
When entering CDs (and later vinyl records) of classical music , I now put the composer (s) in the input field “artist / band”. But actually here should be the performers who are now “hidden away” at the “details”.
Consequences
To check if a CD to be imported is already in the catalog, I now use other criteria, such as labels, for example.
I wonder how I can look up and find CDs with performances by eg the Berliner Philharmoniker by Herbert von Karajan; I don't always go through all the composers and on the other hand I can't be sure that I will find all the performances with Herbert von Karajan…
B) Jazz and other music
Essentially the same problem: Only “artist / band” is a search criterion; the rest (ie the numbers of the tracks and possibly composers can only be found in the details or the tracks of each item).
Conclusion
I think Rene's suggestion to record the tracks separately is a good idea. In my opinion, the automatic transfer will cause problems, since this was not done uniformly.
It may take a little more input, but the result will be all the more manageable!
I expect a quick solution , because we can only worsen the current situation with the introduction of new items. So I do not intend to introduce any more for the time being.

composer is somewhat different from performer and as a rule the artist is the performer. To put the composer in the artist field does not seem right to me, even wrong. would disapprove.

Let's face it from many to very many classical composers, there are no known recordings of Edison's had yet to be born.

Indeed as long as and no field is in front seems to me to be the composer, but as long as it should be placed with details.

I am not a connoisseur of classical music but it seems clear to me that the artist is the performer. also assume that the conductor should be mentioned
That will probably also be asked for the producer, recording, date has also been asked, places theater etc
as long as these fields do not exist, it is all done.

Again there must be guidelines.

Just looked at Ludwig von Beethoven 14 items as an artist ??? this is nonsense.

The first sound fragment is made more than half a century after his death.

For Dick52
A total of 943 items under the “Classic” genre have been entered.
The following composers have been entered in the field “Artists / band”:
Bach Johann Sebastian: 195 times
Beethoven: 12 x
Bizet: 5 x
Buxtehude: 9 x
Chopin: 18 x
Debussy: 6 x
Haendel: 3x
Haydn: 4 x
Mozart: 78 x
Orff: 3 x
Ravel: 4 x
Schubert: 25 x
Stolz: 5 x
Tchaikowsky: 5 x
Verdi: 16 x
Vivaldi: 4 x
Wagner: 5 x
together: 397 x
To be fair, I subtract my classic items from it:
Remains 397 - 58 = 339 x
Incorrectly entered indeed, but because these collectors believe that the composer is primarily more important than the performer (s).
So an additional field seems necessary to me!

I want to believe those numbers at first, the oldest catawiki imported items is still under development.
Yet again no full scans take revenge here.

so this just needs to be cleaned up.

example Lennon & amp; McCartney songbook 593681
originally under Lennon & amp; McCartney entered September 11.
restored in various artists month later
then the individual artists performed. + the traks
then minor adjustment 3 months later
then Land and the title 3 weeks later
better scan than a month later
today tracks modified
and the artists with track number placed in various. May 28, 2010
8 months have passed.
Due to other insights, the quantities of items entered in this period.
The incomplete entry of the items results in a lot of work (time) for the administrators.

Of course 400 incorrect entries are unfortunate, but 60,000 items can be seen. & lt; 0.65% and many of these mistakes are in the beginning made lack of insight.

An additional field is of course important, but many more agreements, see the forum
with the call to record appointments etc. before July 1, which will probably also be adjusted in the course of time.

The field of composers was also discussed during the consultation in September.

A very important item in classical music because we usually talk about the composer and then the performer.

And especially with those old composers from before 1850 it seems unlikely that we have a recording of that, as a performing artist.

One field or several fields would be a godsend.

also comes across as clumsy abroad Beethoven as a performing artist, how credible?

When will the agreements and proposals for the management meeting September and April be carried out?

Composers presented as artists and then on CD DDD

see this nonsense 1959535 ,

This should be arranged by now, but we think it is normal that we mention nonsense.

We are now almost 1.5 years further

The problem is that we wanted to list the composer at the level of a track. That is difficult because the conversion to individual tracks must first be ready. If we choose to do it at the level of the carrier (LP, CD, etc.), we can add that field in no time.

@ Rene why not!

If we still choose to do it on the level of the carrier (LP, CD, etc.), then we can add that field in no time.

I agree Morits do a good job but this just turns into a mess

even if it were only an intermediate solution, if you know how much time it will take to remove the performers/composers from the tracks in compilation albums, etc., and then I'm not talking about capital letters that need to be adjusted

only adjusting takes all the time and then you still fall short

just nonsense is entered because it cannot be mentioned and I just know that the active administrators here are mopping with the tap open

a lot of time is put into everything, but this has been going on for sooooooooo long

in addition, if this had happened with comics and stamps, the forum would have been too small.

without composers and tracks this section would not have existed.

I don't know if entering the track (+ composer) in separate fields (like stories) is really a good idea. Correctly entering an LP is already a witchcraft.

Just for the tracks: find the tracklist somewhere on the internet, copy it to Word, adjust format 1. - & gt; 01: uppercase / lowercase etc and then paste at Tracks. There are nicer things in life.

If in the future you will have to fill in the tracks one by one separately, I fear that the result will simply be that in most cases they will NOT be filled in anymore.

of course we know nicer things in life.

but of course it is nonsense Johan Sabastiaan as a performing artist.

(if I find it I'll put it on ebay)

and with the pasting and cutting it is doable, but indeed it takes a lot of time

but what is lp / cd about? which tracks

in addition, the artists are important, but also the composer, producer

(and I have my doubts about the time to fill it in)

but of course it makes no sense when I see tracks next to a compilation album

artist - track

there are enough that add the data anyway and I think we have to be strict about this otherwise you will get the comment others do not work and we will be a picture site nice but nothing adding.

We are unlucky that it is sometimes a lot of work lp can just not run on the scanner, so it takes a lot of time to display it nicely.

(and if we are not accurate, your Pink Floyd would have just hung under some item while there really is a difference, and not only in the price, your comment, this is the right price to put a few people to work) .

for comics with reissues at least 2 scans

stamps goes with a scan

books 2 scans sometimes too few

unfortunately 3 too little with vinyl

he

I had discussions about entering 1 ep I indicate only mention the title,

answer I put 4 tracks in the title otherwise there is no search .

do we want all tracks for CD or LP in the title?

didn't think so.

I do not dispute that it is necessary for classical music to be able to mention the composer. That is why I am not thinking about importing my classic CDs for the time being.

And of course it is also desirable to be able to search for tracks. No idea whether it is absolutely necessary to create separate fields?.

The question is: if you do that via separate fields for the tracks + composer, it will really be a lot more work. I like that for classical works, usually the same composer and a limited number of tracks.
On the other hand, for 'non-classical albums'? Dozens of songs per CD and usually a lot of composers. And I do not dispute that it is useful information, but I fear that importers will drop out.

I would be happy to just add one field after artist for the classical composers.

The fact that information about tracks, with accompanying composer, lyricist and performer (and possibly procucer) cannot be entered in a structured manner in Catawiki is reason for me not to enter my (substantial) collection. And tracks are of course not mandatory fields. But by not programming them, you also miss out on a group of users who currently have a much better local solution that can be searched by track and associated persons.

It is striking that two valued users already indicate, we are not yet putting this on Catawiki because the options within Catawiki are too limited.

And that everything takes time is also clear, but this has been around for over a year and a half

And today the entry in this section has been stopped a bit, but the entry has been considerable recently. (In numbers).

that is why I bring this up again.

That would be better than what it is now.

It is of course not the Ultimate Solution, but Un Vogulo in Manu est better than Tuuizant in Ciello.

I'm just thinking of the administrators who will be allowed to fix all this.
