Some postcards have the text only in UPPERCASE .
Should we copy this or convert the text to lowercase with only a capital letter at the beginning.
Personally, I only think UPPERCASE comes across as rather “loud”
In other collection areas we have opted for lowercase letters.

Hi Jilles,
My preference is lowercase

Just the reason why I am a passionate advocate of copying the title exactly as it appears on the card.
I have been collecting postcards for over 40 years and have a few thousand of them. When you have so many, you don't have an exact understanding of what you do and don't have. So in the past I came home regularly (too often) with a card that turned out to be in my collection.
I am in the process of uploading my collection to Catawiki, because I especially find the possibility to print a search list ideal Now the lowercase or uppercase letters.
In this case a choice will have to be made between beautiful and USEFUL .
Why exactly copy the title of postcards? So, if only capitals (capitals) are used on the postcard, copy them exactly like this.
I have cards that are exactly the same, the only difference is that on one card the title is printed in capital letters and on the other card in small letters. Suppose I search for the card with capital letters and therefore put it in the search list. I export the search list to Excel, print it and take it with me when I visit a fair.
Now when I come across a card that I suspect I might not have, I don't have to do anything but go through the (alphabetical) list of titles. And since I can also see that in this case the title is written in capital letters, I know for sure that this is “my” card.
So in this case I'm going for USEFUL , even though I like it nicer. :-)

@Jottum
After your explanation I will follow the usefulness of USEFUL even though it stays nicer.

In this case I would choose to indicate under “details” whether the name is mentioned in upper or lower case. That means a click-through moment, but that applies structurally to determining an edition.

Last comment from my side. When exporting, for example, a list of values, the details field is not included. So it makes no sense to mention it there.

That's right, a search wizard would be useful in that regard. Can you decide for yourself which reports you want to generate, but whether that will be…

All in all, I would choose to mention as it is on the card.
It doesn't happen that often that it gets loud, does it ?!

useful is the way it is written on the card, so if it is in CAPITAL LETTERS on a card, then it should be stated that way.

If you have a lot of cards, then you want indeed have all variants and so a distinction must be made, as explained earlier.

CAPITAL LETTERS in a message is indeed screaming, but with overviews it is in a different context and so it is clear functional.

You just have to copy the text exactly as it appears on the card. If it is in capitals, then in capitals. If it is lowercase, then lowercase.

I think this topic has been milked enough. Title is identical to text on the front of the card. End of discussion?
