How can I within a section call up all searched items ?

For example, I would like to scroll through all searched ceramic and glass items, but also by other sections, what collectors are looking for. That way I can better help other collectors and I get a good impression of what is popular.

Fortunately, that is not possible, because that would affect the privacy of the members.

If an item is offered, those collectors will automatically receive a message that it is offered and they will take whether or not to contact the provider. It is up to the seeking CataWiki member to decide whether to accept this and not to a salesperson or anyone who wants to search for them. If you as a seller or investigator want to insist, it can come across as spam.

Maybe you can place an ad that you want to search for items for people and then you just get the people who want it. .

Regarding the popularity of items, this can only be seen by the number of collectors and providers.

I think this question has also been discussed in the forum before. .

I don't understand that privacy story completely or actually not at all @Disney

I'm only happy if someone can go through my search list. Not every collector puts everything in the catalog.

In the current way, by unnecessarily shielding the search lists, it can therefore take a long time before you are offered an item from the search list. And has it to do with coincidence, whether someone puts your wanted item in the catalog.

By making search lists public you stimulate more active searches by collectors to help other collectors and collectors get the through their sought-after stuff.

This is how I casually come across the necessary stuff. If everyone's wish list is public, I can therefore also search more specifically for collectors.

So I would be very happy if Collectors on Catawiki could decide for themselves whether they want to make their wish list public or not. .

I don't fully understand that privacy story or actually not at all @Disney

In the past, the lists of values were public, but because traders started actively approaching the searchers, and not everyone was pleased with this, it was decided to make the lists anonymous.

By the way, I agree with your idea of whether or not to make the choice publicly available to the collector.

@Rikmooren

By the way, I agree with your idea of whether or not to make the choice publicly available to the collector.

I think indeed that you should give more responsibility to collectors. They are man enough to decide for themselves whether or not they want to publish their lists of values.

Currently, the list of values system is far from effective and you can wait sheepishly for a long time for your searched items.

I only like it when collectors or, for example, an antiquarian bookshop approaches me through Catawiki and I am finally offered that long-sought-after book.

Now you only stimulate users to not put their wishlist on Catawiki but on marketplace.

So it only benefits the catalog if the Search Lists are public.

And as collectors & amp; traders are smart, they put the wanted items in their Catawiki shop for an interesting price or offer it up for auction.

Then everyone is happy: Catawiki, the collector and the seller.

@rene I will talk to Marco about the search list. The point is that it was initially open and there was a lot of criticism. That's why we closed it at the time. We still want to get started with making a friends list. It is an idea to be able to open your search list and collection to your friends in a targeted manner. I'll get back to you.

I wonder whether this decision to close the search lists was supported by a majority of the Catawiki community at the time and whether it is not due for revision. The lack of this functionality is a missed opportunity for Catawiki.

A friends list would be a good idea in itself. Or rather simply the possibility to follow shop providers or auction providers. In other words, a more pinterest and Etsy-like approach. Especially the Etsy Community is very strong. At Etsy, they have understood and addressed it very well and they understand how to keep a great community alive.

The above would at least benefit catawiki in terms of trade and interaction between collectors. Moreover, this strengthens the Catawiki community. For inspiration; So see Etsy and Pinterest. Catawiki does not have to reinvent the wheel in this either.

And otherwise simply leave the choice to the collector whether he or her wish to open or close his or her wish list. Because that also increases the interaction between collectors. Catawiki sometimes comes up with unnecessarily difficult solutions for a simple issue.

In summary: Catawiki only becomes more fun and, above all, better if you leave the Collector the choice to make search lists public. .

Does not make sense. The section in collection of also contains the complete list of all owners of, for example, an album.

@boekenmagazijn

The suggestion doesn't get many votes.

That doesn't surprise me. The Feedback section is also due for revision. For example, most users use their votes to make their own suggestions. As a result, it is not even possible to vote for other suggestions.

And given the frequency with which suggestions are picked up, this is a functionality that is slowly bleeding to death. Catawiki takes the suggestions for notice and the Catawiki Community does not hear what happens with the suggestions. Everything stands or falls with good communication. In addition, users should get the feeling that something is being done with their suggestion. That feeling is absolutely not there now. Of the 400 suggestions, 3 are now pending, 38 completed and 13 rejected. That says it all.

It's nice that there are already 247 votes for Sorting-my-collection to my own taste But we have been looking at that for two and a half years now.

Another example:
It has been indicated months ago on the forum and in emails that oad hyperlink advertising on the catalog page is wrong and some hyperlinks from the statistics on the community page are incorrect. To date, even these easy to change errors have not been implemented. The fact that these clumsy mistakes have been on the website for months gives little hope for the suggestion page. In any case, it gives the impression that users are poorly listened to. And what impression does this give to potential advertisers?

I predict a faster growth of Catawiki if they mainly focus on expanding and investing in functionalities that strengthen the Catawiki Community. The more "social", more functional and also graphically more beautiful (responsive design) you make it for the user, the more Catawiki will attract new users and the tighter the Catawiki community will become. Investing in this will have much more impact than the limited impact that the Catawiki visit to international collection fairs has.

"The Catawiki website must eventually adapt to the individual user and not the other way around....."

The shop and auction offer on Catawiki should come to you as a user instead of you being able to search for it yourself....."

  • choice for collectors to be able to make their search lists public
  • Introducing Photoview throughout the entire site so that you only see the photos in a grid and no longer have to scroll through endless lists (see Etsy, Pinterest)
  • Significantly improve the graphical search results. That's not looking good now.
  • Befriending or following Shops, collectors, auction providers
  • And so you can see the new offer from all your favorite shops and auction providers in one place and graphically slick photo page. (This personal offer should be the first thing you see when you log in to catawiki). See also Etsy here.
  • Personal offer on the website based on previous shop and auction purchases.
  • Being able to "like" objects in a collection, shops, auctions and share them with others in a better way (Socially) within Catawiki.
  • be able to make some kind of treasuries (see Etsy)
  • Do much more with message center; at Etsy this is called conversations and goes beyond mere messages.
  • Graphically enhancing the shops ( so also only in photo view without text)
  • Introducing a personal graphically beautiful auction page, where only your own auction offer can be seen.
  • Introducing a graphically strong personal page , where you can make a portrait of yourself including photos and possibly. even a video and where everything can be found in a graphically beautiful way. To illustrate: Now you see This . As you can see, this can still be improved considerably (Etsy is also a forerunner in this). At the moment, Catawiki users who want to do more promotion are forced to create their own promotional website. Catawiki should therefore reach out to these types of users and take matters into their own hands.
In short: offer each user their own personal profile on the Catawiki web page (profile. Shop, My auctions, search list, etc.)
  • Personal banner at the top of every user's personal page and not just above the shop.
  • Expansion of promotional options for collectors, including adding a pinterest button to the auctions, shops and the catalog.
  • Revised the feedback/suggestion page. It is now "bleeding to death"
  • Universal search engine on every Catawiki page with advanced function where you can also search in auction results and search lists.
  • More feeling from Catawiki with people "from the field". Example: The name Design auction is an incorrectly chosen name, as the name Design far from covers the load. This should be Applied Art & Design auction (not the other way around) . The Art Auction is also an incorrect name, because most art is not allowed to be auctioned there. This "art" is mainly limited to non-figurative modern art (Contemporary Art). Then call that auction `contemporary art or Modern art t. Figurative art and applied art is now usually relegated to the Curiosa auction with the consequence that we find designer Cris van der Hoef next to Matruschka dolls Catawiki sometimes thinks badly about these kinds of things. The advantage is that there will now finally be a Design auction . Now all that remains is to change the name to the correct name.
  • Entering themes in the Catalog as soon as possible. (Asian, Militaria, religious art, kitchenalia, 20th century Applied art, Design, visual arts etc).
  • Better search by material (Tin, Gold, Silver etc) and styles (Art Nouveau, Art Deco, Bauhaus, Memphis, Amsterdam School, The Hague School etc)

What Catawiki and we as Catawiki collectors can learn from sites like Etsy (and also Pinterest) is that the entire community promotes each other's items (in the shops), as it were, because they are provided with incredibly fun and functional tools to do so. There is no better and more effective marketing strategy! In addition, users pay a lot of attention to the quality and composition of their photos, which makes the site look fantastic. Photos are also displayed better and larger.

Also this photo site for inspiration : Simply mouth watering how the photos are displayed. just click on the greyscale, portrait fashion and nature buttons . This can make me very happy :-)

Photos site tumblr:

Of course much too big and not functional for a site like Catawiki, but it shows what developments are going on in the field of responsive websites & Blogs.

Befriending or following Shops, collectors, auction providers

In itself a great idea, but with the current and ever-growing number of users, auction providers and shops (does not have to be capitalized ! ;) ) that list will become very large and you will be bombarded with messages in addition to the now large amount of e-mails. And as a collector you won't want to turn it off, because you don't want to miss anything.

However, as a collector you don't want to buy something right away and I hope that you don't get too pushy sellers and that you can also have something like a wish list.

Furthermore, I totally agree with an on/off option for my search list, but I don't want to get spammed. I am only exhibitionistic and like to show what I have and want. It would indeed be nice to talk/discuss certain items, whether you're looking for them or whether they're in your collection. But we have a Magazine for that too, don't we?

@ UpstairsDownsta(irs) : Do you work at Etsy ?

In itself a great idea, but with the current and ever-growing number of users, auction providers and shops (does not have to be capitalized ! ;) ) that list will become very large and you will be bombarded with messages in addition to the now large amount of e-mails.

That's a misconception. It's just fun and very informative. It works more like a kind of Facebook. You don't read everything there either and you have the freedom.

I'm definitely a fan of Etsy because its users pay a lot of attention to excellent photos. In addition, they simply have things well organized in terms of promotion, graphics, community, administration and shipping. But it is not a collector's site. They do have some vintage, but there is also a lot of home industry. I don't do much on Etsy anymore.

Catawiki, on the other hand, potentially has many more options and an increasingly better offer and "The full package" because they also have fantastic auctions.

If Catawiki grows considerably towards the working method as mentioned in this topic and also starts working with themes in the catalogue, it will become the best website in Europe and Ebay, marketplace and Etsy will easily be knocked off the throne.

And that being approached by pushy salesmen will be quite pleasant. That should be happening now.

For example, if I find items that are on the wish list, I will immediately put them in my shop or offer them for auction. So I will not be inclined to approach individual "seekers". This is not commercially smart either.

But collectors who are afraid of this can make their wish list invisible, right? You could also choose to determine yourself which items in the search list may be displayed publicly.

Looks slick!

Catawiki is a collective site with a very large number of volunteers

who selflessly donate their time and knowledge.

in all the foregoing I see nothing of this, the only thing I read is more sales more shops more possibilities.

and then I see this:

For example, if I find items that are on the wish list, I will immediately put them in my shop or offer them for auction. So I will not be inclined to approach individual "seekers". This is not commercially smart either.

Then I watch

User name:
UpstairsDownstairs

Imported Items:
0

And then the light goes on!

wonderful site that he praises. I just read a marketing story!

and if catawiki > then becomes ebay etc, that's great, only then there are no more volunteers and the collector is then only at the top to buy and his collection and he / she is probably at the bottom of the page in black.

@dick52

Don't judge the book on its cover.

Nice that the light turns on for you :-)

As mentioned, if I find items that other collectors are looking for, I will put them in the catalog or shop or put them up for auction. Is also very nice to make discoveries and thereby help other collectors. Anyway, that is not possible now.

I would also like to say that whether one is a good Catawiki user depends not only on how much you put in the catalog, but also on the number of things you buy from collectors and for auction and how positive, constructive (helpful) you profile yourself on the forum :-)

Unfortunately, due to the current setup, you cannot see what I have auctioned. You can see that I have given positive feedback 8 times, I have neatly filled in my country and gender and have no standard banner and avatar :-)

Furthermore, I think I should improve my constructive story a bit better read. 99% of this is about the great potential of the Catawiki community.
Incidentally, growth in this case only means progress and we can be very optimistic about all the surprises that Catawiki still has in store.

Assen after all, is not built in a day either :-)

A good CataWiki user hopefully has nothing to do with how much or what he buys on this site. I still stick to the old CataWiki ideal of a collector site made by collectors and not the sellers who determine this. The possibility to sell is wonderful and necessary to finance CataWiki. The forum is only a tool to ask questions, to raise topics or to air your opinion, not a means to dissuade you from CataWiki or your identity.

And yes, what is a good CataWiki user and is there a need to know?

It works more like facebook. There you will not read everything and you have the freedom

I also read almost all the news that I receive via Facebook and I think that I am really not the only one. That is dosed, but like I said I don't want to miss anything and will therefore want to follow all shops. That cannot be done, is it? The current system of if something is offered on CataWiki and it is in your search list, you will just receive an email. Works fine!

And not everyone has money right away and therefore wants to be able to put items on their wish list. That is not possible if it has not been put in the Catalog! Can you also add the nice items that you offer for auction to the CataWiki Catalog?

@Disney

It's an "and and" story @Disney

After all, Catawiki is not just a catalog, but also an auction site, a sales site and a site with a forum . So it is not only the catalog that counts, which is suggested by some on this forum over and over again.

I do not believe that there is a romantic "old-catawiki ideal". Incidentally, the motto still goes on "For and by collectors" Because in my opinion no strict distinction can be made between collector, seller and auction provider. I am all three and, like many other Catawiki users, I contribute to the Catawiki community without having put things in the catalog.

That is also dosed, but as I said before. I don't miss anything and will therefore want to follow all shops. That is impossible, is it?

Well, that is a personal choice, if you want to follow everything.

Texit (Topic exit)

With surprise, I see these kinds of rules popping up more often among people who often have not even started the topic themselves. I think those using this should end their message with the text: 'And now I don't want to talk about it anymore' or 'And now I find it enough and continue entering items' or ...

@UP; and Ebay is easily knocked off the throne

Just kidding?

in NL maybe, although Marktplaats and Ebay NL together also form a good chunk

but Europe? just look at the figures for Germany

Deutscher eBay Marktplatz

I personally think Catawiki is a much nicer Site, but leave the Church in the Village.

Good statement upstairs downstairs. Few of us can think out of the box. Your position on customer focus is very strong and applies to all types of services. Catawiki is a fantastic initiative but can evolve even further by collecting demand from the customer. Whether there are thousands does not matter, large companies also have to deal with it.

I also endorse the innovations that you advocate. I think a large part of the Catawiki users is in the older segment. Especially with the proposed renewal it will attract a large group of young people and I am talking about 20 to 40 year olds. In these kinds of transitions you will always have the large established crowd who don't like it, but in this day and age you cannot escape it and it is the only way forward.

Actually, you have a new business model on presented a silver platter to Catawiki;)

I dare to go so far that I want to bet you a bottle of good Laphroaig Whiskey (10 years old), that within 5 years Catawiki will be bigger than all the Collect related categories Ebay together. For the time being, this concerns the countries where Catawiki is also active (the bet will be void upon takeover).

Do you accept the bet? (can also be another bottle of drink :-)
