What is against it if two members of Catawiki agree with each other that one member takes care of the image and the other enters the data?

-One member has a stamped seal, the other member the neutral MNH. The member with the canceled stamp knows that his scan will soon be replaced by the MNH image. Why will he spend time scanning his canceled stamp?

- The owner of the MNH collection has so much to introduce that he is looking for efficiency and wants to work together.

- The owner of the MNH stamp takes care of the scans and sends the image (or in the build) to the member entering the seal.

Together they input and both save time and Catwiki gets faster and better content.

Because he has the stamped in his want to put your own collection?

If he wants to use his scan of the stamped for his collection or shop, he does so. But if he does not want that, this is a good one without obligation and if it suits someone, a possibility for collaboration.

Good idea.

Too bad the discussion is being conducted by non-stamp managers. Where are our boys.

It is a pity that the discussion is being conducted by non-stamp managers. Where are our guys.

Non-stamp managers are also regular Catawiki users, so finally stop sowing discord. The more people participate, the more substantive it can become. Please take off your blinders and try to give the group feeling in yourself a little more space, I would say.

Agree with both Arco and Micho. 'Non-stamp managers' and even 'non-stamp collectors' can easily get involved in the discussion. Agree with Micho that the discussion takes on even more body when stamp administrators get involved.

Returning to the topic, I wonder how stamps should be introduced. If things like paper type, watermark and perforation have to be checked (= determined) every time you enter, then you have to have the stamps in your hands and not scans. If you get that information elsewhere, whatever you do with catalog numbers, then it is absolutely not necessary to have the stamps. I am primarily a user and benefit from a complete (and good) catalog. It will not be surprising that I am in favor of the latter. However, I don't know if this is possible. Images cannot be downloaded from the Internet either.

M.i. 2 issues regarding the input of images should be kept apart.

CATALOG

The quality of the catalog will improve when as many MNH scans are used. If such a scan is not immediately available, a scan of a used copy will temporarily suffice. Like bad scans, the administrator can ALSO replace this image with any participant at a later time.

MARKETPLACE

However, if a used stamp goes up for sale offered, it is very important to provide an image of this. For many collectors it is important to see IN ADVANCE which stamping is used and the quality of the perforations. In previous discussions it has already been noted that this means a lot of work in practice, but I think for reasons of principle and for service considerations that this should certainly be offered with more expensive copies.

Still far too often buyers complain. about the poor quality of the offered material, while it is precisely the strong point of CATAWIKI that no damaged material may be offered.

Arc

I'm glad you're joining the discussion. But it is much more important to hear the point of view of the stamp administrators.

Stamps often have specific problems.

These administrators determine the policy of democracies or undemocracy.

Miris, the driving force behind this topic, is the administrator of stamps with a focus area theme / motif.

Image collectors often have an obsession with collecting as many stamps as possible with certain images. A nice picture is more important to them than stamps, perforations and watermarks.

It is also usually not stamps from the higher price ranges that require physical examination in order to be imported.

Deviations and misprints are relatively rare. Collecting themes is actually quite simple and affordable. That is why it is becoming more and more popular internationally, as witnessed by the rise in prices that I have been observing for years for the popular themes on Ebay, Delcampe and even Marktplaats.

Because many themes are not yet sufficiently entered on Cataiiki, I try to find ways to realize growth in themes and thus make Catawiki attractive for theme collectors from all corners of the world.

Unfortunately, Catawiki is not an organization that can pay money for the input of content. So what I'm proposing is a possibility. Other suggestions?

I do have them, but first feel the temperature of this water.

Especially for the non-stampers,,,, do you know the same issue with your items? Also known collections that you would like to import?

@Miris: I think the discussion is also getting a bit heated because it is ABSOLUTELY forbidden in comics, for example, to import a copy that you don't own. You must be able to describe the specimen as well as possible and that is only possible if you have the specimen yourself. A scan by someone else will therefore not suffice.

In the CataWiki Comic Catalog there are still traces of the early days when CataWiki included the collection of images from the Bonte Catalog (another digital comic catalog) in its own Collection. The result was that it also included comics that had no image and had the famous camera as an image. It even happened that comics were taken over in the CataWiki Catalog that didn't exist!!

This is known with comics and I am also thinking of the posters/prints or the sculptures, figurines or other art objects.

A good example of joint input can be seen in Aartinge. I think those are 2 people, Aart and Inge. But I guess that's not what was meant. I think the question was whether 2 CataWiki collectors could enter items together. And if that wasn't possible, if someone else had an idea to make the CataWiki Catalog grow faster.

Where are our boys?

asked Micho and I don't know, I'm a girl and I don't have 'us feeling' with all the stamp people.

but now content:

it is an interesting discussion, in our themes there are already possibilities here and there to distinguish between theme and motif. for example you can choose peace pigeons or carrier pigeons. does not mean that I am against splitting theme or motif but I do not know if it is realistic to enter this,

- is there man (woman) strength for it? -Is it easy to realize.?

----

personally I find it even more interesting that Catawiki -heard of Marco- is working to find themes throughout the catalog. among the stamp managers there are also several who find this interesting.

suppose, I save puppets and I choose the theme puppets, then I can see apinquins that are on postcards, that are on stamps, penguin figurines, surprise -Eggs and toy pinquins.

or suppose I save everything from the soviet union then i will find via soviet union -f ussr I do not care- everything that has to do with this, so banknotes, stamps, cigar bands , postcards, pins, etc,

or I would like to see everything from a particular painter: it can be on postage stamps, but also on paintings, postcards, etc. and stamp of Russian painting that matched is nice!)

This idea really adds value to a digital catalog for me.

greetings,

elizabeth

.

I see that my response was better suited to the general forum, with suggestions for the site topic multiple layers in theme fields, so I placed it there too.

It's not easy either, hey, all those various topics.

The difference between theme and motif remains difficult. Someone who spares the theme of war and peace can include the motif peace doves in his thematic collection. Someone who has a thematic collection on the history of the mail can include the motif carrier pigeons in his collection. These collectors will not be interested in the pigeons section, which also still exists. This contains all images of pigeons, even those that do not belong to the theme.

Someone who collects pigeons as a theme may be interested in all aspects of pigeons. So peace pigeons, carrier pigeons and different pigeon species. Perhaps there are also stamps with images of famous pigeon breeders or of people who used a lot of carrier pigeons, or of situations where a lot of carrier pigeons were used or of a typical pigeon court. For such a collector it is useful to have everything in the pigeons section or he / she must be able to find the stamps in sub-sections. At the moment he can find all stamps on which pigeons are depicted in the pigeons section. But seals without pigeons will have to be sought elsewhere.

The third collector is a motif collector and only spares (wild) pigeon species. He probably doesn't want pictures of peace pigeons and carrier pigeons in the pigeons section. They are there. Of the current 15 pages in the pigeons section, about 10 are filled with (stylized) peace pigeons and carrier pigeons. Is difficult, takes more time, is less professional, but is not insurmountable.

It is clear to me that the pigeons section should look different for the thematic collector than for the motif collector. In my opinion, the latter forms the basis for the first. A split of theme and motif seems inevitable to me in a professional setup.

It is difficult that not all importers will understand the difference and that a lot can be entered incorrectly. that is my objection to this idea.

@ Elizabeth

I understand your point and can go along with it. But I would like to approach it differently. Even now many stamps are entered incomplete and sometimes partly incorrectly. The current theme / motif section is not filled in much and contains errors. Not much will change in that regard. But if the stamps are in Catawiki, they can be supplemented and improved by many volunteers. Every collector involved will want to have his collection in Catawiki as good and complete as possible. For example, I try to enter the depicted animal by motif of all my animal stamps. And a theme collector will be able and willing to do that for his theme. I see it as an investment in the future. If it is not listed? Fine! Then it will come later.

Or an organic form of entering together. The collectors who enter a good neutral image and the other (s) who make this input usable for several collectors for his theme.

By the way, the charm of theme collecting is also the search and discovering seals .......?

Because often owning the business is the end of the entertainment ...

So a search system doesn't have to be perfect either ...

I am a new Catawiki user. First I coded my collection and I'm done with that now.

Tonight I added my first series to the Catalog (Italy). Hopefully I didn't make too many mistakes or omissions.

Now I want to enter the five separate stamps of that series. Am I now obliged to repeat the whole story for 5 stamps, or is there some kind of copy or a "save as" command ??

Who wants to shed some light on this??

regards

Wim

If you select a stamp you will see a blue menu row on the right side of the page. The 2nd of this row is 'Copy item'. If you click on this you will get a new input page where almost all existing information of the copied stamp is entered. You only have to add the correct info and the image.
