Gededeke Is your drum for sale on Lastdodo or elsewhere and does your desired price match the tins to which  Boekenmagazijn refers? in good condition apparently a 10 euros feasible. I see Verkade biscuit tins which are mass-produced and many still in circulation from the 1950s in thrift shops or on markets, but it doesn't yield more than a few euros. I saw biscuit tins for sale at the Catawiki auction, but they are very beautifully decorated from 1800. They are now still at 4 euros, perhaps there are 2 buyers who will bid against each other, if not, it will remain at a low price. Perhaps another cookie tin expert on the Forum is watching and if you indicate with a photo what you mean exactly, that would be useful.

Wow, 60,000 cans! That is a large collection.
You do need such a large space for that.

Not so much absurd as remarkable.

I am especially jealous of the amount of space she has.

Hello,
If there are tea bags on the bottom of the tin, it is clear that it is a tea tin. Then creating a new species is not necessary.

LastDodo, I found another rare species 8273221 which I did not know existed, nor is it known in LastDodo, if possible it should still be set to type.

There has indeed already been quite a discussion about the term tin box, because it covers a lot. In addition, in this case, I thought, the box was meant to be Belgian. In that sense, a box where you put things in. It is very difficult to determine types of tin objects and drums. I also find the name of this section misleading, because drums are really just tin boxes, like biscuit tin made of tin. Basically, drums are also just cans. I hope we can work it out. As long as there are fewer duplicate items in the LastDodo (CataWiki) Catalog, because that's what we're going for.

@Conny

Send me a PB with what you would like to have supplemented and / or changed. Then I will adjust it afterwards.

Hello,

In the past I have already asked if there is a possibility to add new types. Then that was not possible because the website was outdated. Now there is a lot of work on it and I am happy with it. So I ask my question again: Can new types of cans be added?

In the catalog I do not find the kind of "beverage can". Actually, I don't mean the can in which the drink was (or still is), but the packaging of the bottle. Under the type "Can" there are quite a few cans from my collection alone (liqueur, champagne, etc.) that would fit into that category.

Also for eau de toilette / perfume / soap there is a considerable number in the catalog that qualify for a separate designation as a type (toiletries eg?)

Furthermore, I see "Tin box" as a kind. This is a colorful collection of cans that would better fit under other species names, or else just under "Can".

I would like to hear about the possibilities.
Greetings, Conny

Empty brand names are removed 1x per day. If a brand is wrong and there are many items of that brand, you can ask to change it here. Administrators can do that at the touch of a button.

Next question: Can a possibility be created whereby a brand name can be corrected? I sometimes see incorrect use of capital letters and initials when it comes to a proper name identifying the brand.
If I now want to change the brand name, a new brand is created and all associated items must be provided with the new name. Then you are left with an empty (incorrect) brand name that cannot be removed, with the risk that it will be used again.

Could a possibility be created whereby duplicate copies can be removed? In consultation with the manager, I have provided the title of an item with the term duplication of no. ...... in some cases, but it makes it easier if there are simply no duplicates. Unfortunately, I was guilty of this too, but so I cannot correct this without first removing my item and then adding it to my collection from the catalog and then uploading my own photos.

Hello,
The above discussion is from 9 years ago, but I see that there is still no clarity about what is now called storage tin, storage box, storage tin, storage container, etc. There are also wooden and cardboard or paper items in the catalog for tins and drums.
The number of items has now risen to over 6000. It would be nice if the catalog was indeed cleaned up once.

Greetings, Conny

If they are not in a CataWiki Shop and not in the CataWiki Catalog, then we cannot help you. Have you already added your own collection?

Well intentioned perhaps, but our Forum is now slipping into a kind of marketplace, for sale, etc.

Advice: put everything you have on marketplace or Ebay etc and see if people will bid you will not see any attachments and in case there is really something special the enthusiasts will probably try to get those pieces out.

Hello,

We found a box full of tins in my recently deceased father-in-law's attic. I can trace a large part, but I just can't find a number of them online. I have the idea that there could be quite special things, but I need help!

I now have the following cans:

And then some cans that I couldn't find here, but elsewhere:

But then .. I have a number of cans that I can't find anything about:

A tin from Douwe Egberts with a completely different lid than usual. No logo, but black with a small decoration.

https://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/MTAyNFg3Njg=/z/zykAAOSwSg5bE-RN/$_86.JPG
https://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/MTAyNFg3Njg=/z/qJsAAOSwVvRbE-RN/$_86.JPG

A cocoa tin from De Gruyter. Can find several variants, but not this one.

And finally this one:

https://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/NzY4WDEwMjQ=/z/3fYAAOSwDktbE-9K/$_86.JPG

https://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/NzY4WDEwMjQ=/z/qVYAAOSw4aZbE-9K/$_86.JPG

I can find it, but not in this format.

Does anyone have tips? Advice? Is there anything Really Very Special in between?

Again, it belongs to my deceased father-in-law, we come across it by chance and really have no understanding of it. If we were to sell, the proceeds would benefit a weekend away with our family and that of my sister-in-law.

Thank you very much in advance for the responses.

Marieke

Just off-topic, but I notice it now.

Apparently you can no longer choose a nickname yourself. So it now looks like user " user-886b306 ".

Aside from the absurdity of not being able to choose your own nickname, this will also lead to confusion. You then have to look up the difference between users with a magnifying glass.
This notwithstanding the fact that Catawiki apparently prefers to indicate its users with machine numbers instead of a nice nickname chosen by yourself.
