Popfoto was created in August 1966 as the successor to Tuney Tunes . Popfoto was initially a monthly (later biweekly) music magazine that appeared between 1966 and 1995.

Unlike competitors such as Muziek Expres and Muziek Parade , Popfoto focused primarily on girls.
