Phil@poste picture stamps catalogue

As a subcontractor of the Ministry of the Post, Anatole Hulot was charged from 1848 to June 1876 with the printing of the first French stamps and was then succeeded by the Banque de France.

After purchasing a printing house and equipment in Paris in 1876, the postal administration itself started printing stamps.

From 1880 to 1970 the printing house was called "Imprimerie des Timbres-Poste - Paris" or also "Atelier du Timbre", from 1970 to 1989 "Imprimerie des Timbres-Poste - Périgueux" and later "Imprimerie des timbres-poste et des valeurs fiduciaires or “ITVF” for short. Stamps with ITVF on the edge of the stamp should be placed under that printer's designation.

In 1989, the printing house was transformed into "Service national des timbres-poste et de la philatélie", abbreviated SNTP, with the aim of producing, selling and promoting stamps and related products.

Finally, in March 2006, the name was changed for the last time to “Phil@poste” and the printing company itself was named “Phil@poste Boulazac”, with its registered office in Boulazac (Dordogne – France). Only stamps printed from then on have this designation as a printing house
