E – The series has 4 items issued from 1881 to 1882.
F – Afin d’accroître la qualité des timbres de 1c., 3c., 6c. et 10c., la “American Bank Note Company” (ABNCo) procéda à des améliorations des quatre plaques venant de la “Continental Bank Note” suite à la fusion en 1879. Quelques changements furent minimes par des retouches ci et là, d’autres images furent complètement regravées. Un changement de couleur fut aussi effectué pour trois des quatre timbres.
E – In order to enhance the 1c., 3c., 6c. and 10c. stamps’ quality, the American Bank Note Company made improvements to the plates coming from Continental Bank Note Company following its merger in 1879. Some of the changes were slight, including light retouching in some areas of the designs, other designs were completely re-engraved. A major change of colours was also made for three oif the four stamps.

F - George Washington (1732-1799) : homme d’état, chef d’état-major de l’Armée continentale et premier président des Etats-Unis. Comme Benjamin Franklin, lui aussi est un des « Founding Fathers » (Pères fondateurs). Présidence du 30 avril 1732 au 4 mars 1797.
E – George Washington (1732-1799) : statesman, commander of the Continental Army and first president of the United States. Like Benjamin Franklin, he also is one of the “Founding Fathers”. Presidency from 30th of April to 4th of March 1797.

F - Thomas Jefferson (1743-1826) : homme d’état, secrétaire d’état et vice-président avant de devenir le troisième président des Etats-Unis. Il est le premier président à être réélu. Présidence du 4 mars 1801 au 4 mars 1809.
E – Thomas Jefferson (1743-1826) : statesman, secretary of state and vice-president before becoming the third president of the United States. He is the first president being re-elected. Presidency from the 4th of March 1801 to the 4th of March 1809.

The ball under the E of POSTAGE has been reduced and the crescent has been omitted. There are four vertical lines of shading between the left side of the oval and the edge of the shield. There are five lines in the original stamp.
