Starting out as The Fab Five (the Beatles were The Fab Four!) the name was abbreviated to FAB in 1966. Equipped with Gretsch and Burns guitars and of course Vox amplifiers, a repertoire was conjured up that was entirely inspired by the oeuvre of bands such as Kinks, Rolling Stones and Them. The beat/garage band soon had a fan club of about a thousand members who often organized evenings in the Tivoli theater in Schiedam. For example, on April 22, 1966, they played together with their major hometown rivals, The Roadrunners Sect, and a little later, on May 8 of the same year, with the Q 65 who had just released their first record. Together with manager Martin Green (born: Groen) it was then decided to release a record in-house in an edition of 300 pieces. The recordings were made in a church in Delft where only a single microphone was present. At a performance in The Hague with The Hollies, Tony Hicks borrowed the guitar from one of the band members, because his was broken. But this one came back broken! Singer Gerard Visser was later active in Heart with Patricia Paay (and ex husband).
