Stelco

Stelco originated from a 1935 toy manufacturer in Fürth in West Germany.
In 1960, Heino Stelter (a son-in-law) took over the company and renamed it "Spielwarenfabrik Dr. Adolf Kürschner - inhaber Stelter & Co.", from which the brand name AK Stelco originated.

In 1970, the Japanese toy manufacturer Tomy/Plarail participated in the company. From 1973 Stelco mainly produced vinyl and hard plastic model cars.
In 1976 a large part of the factory was destroyed by a fire. In 1979 the bankrupt Stelco company was completely taken over by Tomy, who continued the company under the name “Tomy Spielwaren GmbH”.
The Stelco products were then sold for a number of years under the old brand name Stelco by Frör from Erlangen.

In the train sets, Tomy/Plarail made the locomotive in Japan; the freight cars and all accessories came from the Stelco factory in Germany.
