Sergeant Georges Colin escapes the Nazis in 1940 and subsequently attempts to rebuild his family's transport company. After the lightning-fast victory in the Battle of France, Germany primarily wanted France to surrender quickly. A "milder" arrangement made an armistice more attractive to the French.
