After making the successful Capricorn One, Peter Hyams wanted to make a western, but at the insistence of Warner Brothers products it became a science fiction film with western elements.

In addition to Sean Connery, we see several well-known television faces such as James B. Sikking (from Hill Street Blues) and John Ratzenberger (from Cheers).

Sean Connery plays a police officer on the moon IO of the planet Jupiter. The mine workers are plagued by crime, drug abuse and unexplained suicides.
