The Strangers was an Antwerp group that mainly gained fame by singing humorous - often socially critical - texts in the Antwerp dialect to well-known hit melodies.

Members
Ernest Adriaensen (31/05/1941). He is the youngest member (since 1976), bass guitarist
Alex Boeye (12/10/1934). Co-founder, plays guitar and recognizable as "The Stranger with the Beard". (1985: Stranger Alex: All alone on his own). Alex's graphic talent also provided cover designs and illustrations for vinyl records and the collector's box LPs.
Pol Bollansee (22/08/1929-26/12/1984). Known as the "Schele Vanderlinden" died on Boxing Day 1984 of a fifth heart attack.
John DeWilde (29/09/1933).
Gust Torfs (09/10/1929- 04/06/1997). Left De Strangers in 1964 to only write lyrics for it. Often referred to as "the fifth Stranger" because of this. Died in 1997 from the effects of a brain haemorrhage.
René Van Laken (28/03/1938) strengthens the group (initially as a musician) from 1968 to 1976.
Bob Van Staeyen (10/03/1936), t has been a member of the group since 1964. He replaced Gust Torfs and is the other guitar player.
