De syntpop band Icehouse is oorspronkelijk opgericht in Australië in 1977 onder de naam Flowers. Flowers was vooral een pub rock en cover band. Zij brachten in 1980 het album Icehouse uit. Pas vanaf 1981 werd de band naam gewijzigd in Icehouse. Het album Icehouse werd toen opnieuw uitgebracht onder de bandnaam Icehouse, met een andere volgorde van de nummers. De bezetting van de band op dat moment was: Iva Davies (zang, keyboard en solo gitaar), Keith Welsh (bas), Anthony Smith (keyboard) en John Lloyd (drums). Zowel voor als na 1981 heeft de band vele personeelswisselingen ondergaan. In 1982 volgde het tweede album van Icehouse met Primitive Man. Hierop is de wereldhit Hey Little Girl te vinden. In 1983 volgde de EP Fresco met wederom Hey Little Girl en 4 andere nummers. Daarna bracht de band nog 6 studio albums uit: Sidewalk (1984), Measure for Measure (1986), hun commercieel gezien meest succesvolle album Man of Colours (1987), Code Blue (1990), Big Wheel (1993) en The Berlin Tapes (1995) Dit laatste album werd uitgebracht onder de naam Iva Davies and Icehouse.

The syntpop band Icehouse was originally formed in Australia in 1977 under the name Flowers. Flowers was primarily a pub rock and cover band. They released the album Icehouse in 1980. It wasn't until 1981 that the band's name was changed to Icehouse. The album Icehouse was then re-released under the band name Icehouse, with a different order of the songs. The line-up of the band at that time was: Iva Davies (vocals, keyboard and lead guitar), Keith Welsh (bass), Anthony Smith (keyboard) and John Lloyd (drums). Both before and after 1981, the band went through many personnel changes. Icehouse's second album with Primitive Man followed in 1982. The world hit Hey Little Girl can be found on this. In 1983 followed the EP Fresco with again Hey Little Girl and 4 other songs. After that, the band released 6 more studio albums: Sidewalk (1984), Measure for Measure (1986), their most commercially successful album Man of Colors (1987), Code Blue (1990), Big Wheel (1993) and The Berlin Tapes.
