Fleischmann

Jean Fleischamnn was born in 1849 in Ermof, Bavaria. He attended art school and then opened a workshop where he first made tin toys for others. In 1887 he started selling his toys under his own name. He made ships and animals, among other things. After his death in 1917, his wife Käthe continued the company together with his brother Jobst. The Staudt company was taken over in 1928, because the range fitted in well with their own program.
In 1938 the company Doll & Co was also taken over. As a result, steam engines and model trains appeared in the Fleischmann range. During the Second World War, Fleischmann had to switch to the production of war materials, now under the leadership of Jean's sons Johan and Emil.
After the war, toy production resumed in the rebuilt factory in Nuremberg. Trains became the most important product. First 2 rail direct current track 0, and from 1952 track H0 (initially scale 1: 82, later 1: 90). Business went well and in 1964 a second factory was built in Heilbronn. In 1968 Fleischmann introduced gauge N under the name Fleischmann Piccolo. In 1986 Emil died and Oscar and Horst, the third generation of brothers, took over the management. They celebrated Fleischmann's 100th anniversary in 1987. After the turn of the century, the family business experienced difficulties and in 2008 the company was sold to Mr. Haslberger, at that time the owner of Roco. However, the Fleischmann name was retained. In 2011, Roco/Fleischmann came into the hands of three owners (see Roco) who continued the company. In 2017 they also did not survive and the company Modelleisenbahn Holding GmbH came into the possession of the Raiffeisenbank Salzburg. In 2018, it was decided to merge the H0 ranges of Roco and Fleischmann under the name Roco. The name Fleischmann will be retained for gauge N. The addition Piccolo had already been dropped in 2009. The factory remained in Munich, Germany

In 1894 Jean Fleischmann was born in Ermof, Bavaria. He attended the academy of arts and when finished he opened a workshop where he made tin plate toys for other companies. In 1887 he started to sell his toys under his own name. He produced ao ships and animals. After his death in 1917 his wife Käthe together with his brother Jobst continued the company. In 1928 they took over the firm Staudt because their toys completed very well their own range.
In 1938 the firm Doll & Co was taken over as well. This resulted in getting steam machines and trains in Fleischmann's assortment of toys. During the second world war Fleischmann had to produce war equipment, by now under the leadership of Jean's sons Johan and Emil.
After the war toy production started soon in the rebuilt factory in Nuremberg. Model trains then became the most important product. Firstly 0 gauge trains on 2 track direct current and from 1952 H0 gauge (initially at a scale of 1 to 82, later 1 to 90).
Business went well and in 1964 a second plant was being built in Heilbronn. In 1984 Fleischmann introduced N gauge named Fleischmann Piccolo. In 1986 Emil passed away and the third generation brothers Oscar and Horst took over leadership. In 1987 they celebrated Fleischmann's centenary.
After the turn of the century business became difficult and in 2008 the firm was sold to mr. Haslberger, at that time the owner of Roco. However, the name Fleischmann remained. In 2011 Roco/Fleischmann came in the hands of three owners (ref. Roco) who continued the company, but in 2011 they could not manage any more and the company, now named Modelleisenbahn Holding GmbH, came in possession of the Raiffeisenbank Salzburg. In 2018 it was decided to join the H0 assortments of Roco and Fleischmann under the name Roco. The brand Fleischmann will be kept for N gauge. The addition Piccolo was already lost in 2009. The main factory remained in Munich, Germany.
