Inini was a territory in the interior of French Guiana, in the north of the Amazon. The territory was established in 1930. From 1932, Inini became a separate postal area with its own stamps. Between 1940 and 1943, French Guiana and Inini fell under the French State (Vichy France). However, the stamps issued for Inini by the French State were not available in Inini itself. French Guiana joined the Free French Forces in 1943, but the French State continued to issue unusable stamps until 1944. Although the Inini territory was not officially abolished until 1947, French Guiana stamps were used again after 1944.
