In 1996, Uwe Köstel and Matthias Rasch founded their company Köstel & Rasch Elektronik + Servive GmbH, KRES for short, in Frauenreuther (Saxony). This company develops and produces software and electronics for the transport and aviation industry.
Since 2000, electronics have also been supplied to model railway manufacturers. The FlexDecoder was already on the market under its own name (a decoder in the locomotive with matching decoders in wagons). This is how the idea arose to step into the model railway world. The first product came on the market in 2005: a diesel railcar for TT track. An H0 model followed in 2013 and an N model in 2015. The KRES models stand out because the motor is not visibly installed. In addition to diesel multiple units in H0, TT and N, a TT double-deck articulated passenger car set will also be delivered.

Since 2000 they also supply electronics to model railway manufacturers. Under their own name the FlexDecoder was already marketed (a decoder in the loco and add-on decoders in coaches). In this way the idea was born to enter the model railway world themselves. In 2005 their first product was released: a diesel railcar for TT gauge. In 2013 an H0 model followed and in 2015 an N model. KRES models have a striking feature which is having an invisible motor. Besides diesel railcars in H0, TT and N, they also produce a TT double stock articulated set of passenger coaches.
