Micro Trains

Miniaturization runs like a thread through the history of model trains. In 1948 a model train of the brand Micro Trains appeared in Sweden in scale HH0 or half H0, which at that time was 1:152. The maker, Carl Nordstrand, produced an American 4-6-4 steam locomotive of the NYC, a 6 -axle passenger car, a boxcar and rails with a track gauge of 10 mm. The locomotive was made of cast metal, the carriages had cast metal undercarriages and a plastic superstructure. However, demand remained limited. Eventually Kadee bought the molds, but gauge N came up as standard before they could be used. The only thing Kadee could use was the name, which was used for gauge N and Z products. When Kadee split up in 1990, Micro-Trains Lines became the name for N and Z and Kadee for H0.

Miniaturization is a continuous goal in the history of model railroading. In 1948 in Sweden a model train named Micro Trains appeared. The scale was called HH0 or half H0 which was in those days 1:152. Carl Nordstrand, the maker produced an American 4-6-4 steam locomotive from the NYC, a heavyweight passenger coach, a box car and track with 10 mm gauge. The loco was made of metal die cast, the cars had a die cast chassis and plastic bodies. However, demand never developed. Eventually Kadee bought the dies but before they were going to be used, N gauge appeared as a standard. The only thing Kadee could salvage was the name which became the company name for N and Z products. When in 1990 Kadee was split up, Micro-Trains Lines became the brand for N and Z and Kadee for H0.
