In 1946 the brothers Edwin and Hermann Faller founded the Hermann Faller company in Stuttgart. Soon afterwards they moved to Gütenbach in the Black Forest. The company name was changed to Gebrüder Faller. They made wooden combs. Working with wood inspired them to make wooden building boxes for houses with the Marathon brand name. In 1948 the name Marathon expired. In addition to houses, trees and later more products were sold to decorate landscapes. In the 1950s, the company switched to plastic products. The first track N construction sets from Faller appeared in 1964 and in 1980 for track Z. The Faller Car system came in 1988, first for H0 but later also for N. In 1997 Faller took over the construction sets from Pola but kept the name. Faller still exists in 2016.
