Luminescence
Ukraine has provided a number of stamps with a fluorescent print. These become visible under UV light. Usually a short wavelength is required for this, sometimes a long one. Sometimes the entire paper lights up and sometimes specific patterns are visible. The same stamp can be issued with and without fluorescent and have multiple patterns.

Trident Imprints - 1918
In 1918, Ukraine provided all available Russian stamps with an overprint of a trident. It is estimated that there are a total of 1500 different types of overprints. In combination with the number of different stamps, the number of possibilities is almost unlimited. In order to maintain an overview, the following systematics are maintained here.

Basic collection
This basic collection is visible in the "Standard" overview.
Of each type of stamp, one with imprint is allowed. No attention is paid to shape and/or colour.

Advanced and expert collectors of Ukrainian stamps distinguish between regions, type and sub-type. In accordance with international custom, the overprints are classified by region. Classical classifications use Roman numerals as type designation. For readability, these are replaced here by (usually corresponding) Arabic numerals according to Bulat .

Because the same imprint can appear on multiple variants of a stamp, only the base number of that stamp may be referred to. This is optional.
Referring to a special catalogue may be done by mentioning the name/author of the catalogue.

For the Odessa type 5 and 6, Bulat has elevated the subtypes of Seichter to their own types (5 to 8). Hontsarjoek follows Bulat but gives a different classification in the catalogue (it is unclear whether this is a typo or intentional). Most collectors use the Seichert and/or Bulat methodology. For the classification, LD follows Bulat (and Seichert). The numbers for specific stamps currently refer mainly to Hontsarjoek, but will be converted to Bulat in the coming period for the sake of clarity.

Trident Push-ups - 1992
In 1992, various regional post offices in Ukraine provided stock Russian stamps with various overprints to indicate independence, usually in combination with a new face value. In addition, a number of provisional stamps were printed with relatively primitive means. Officially, only the overprints of a trident in a shield, printed in Kiev and Lviv with letterpress, are officially authorized. In LastDodo all stamps are welcome as long as they are authentic (see especially the Lobko catalogue).

Because the same printing plates were used in Kiev and Lviv, the difference between the two can only be seen by means of colour variations. An additional difficulty is that there are already colour variations within the printings of Kiev and Lvov. Comparable to the approach of the tridents from 1918, we therefore include a basic collection in the "Standard" overview. All other stamps belong under "Regional".

Basic collection
This basic collection is visible in the "Standard" overview. Only the basic stamp is included. Variants, inverted versions and specific location indications do not belong here. The series of overprints from Lviv consists of 10 overprints. The series from Kiev consists of 12 (extra are: 0 50#2 and 5 00#3). Incidentally, Hontsarjoek does include 5_00#3 with the issue from Lviv, but without mentioning how it can be distinguished. Lobko gives a few more clues, but the distinction remains difficult.

For modern stamps the catalogues of Fedyk and Hontsarjuk have been used. The Ukrainian Wikipedia, however, offers an excellent alternative in combination with the translation power of Google Translate.

Luminescentie

Oekraïne heeft een aantal zegels voorzien van een fluoriserende opdruk. Deze worden zichtbaar middels onder UV licht. Meestal is hiervooer een korte golflengte vereist, soms een lange. Soms licht het hele papier op en soms zijn er specifieke patronen zichtbaar. Eenzelfde zegel kan met wel en niet-fluoriserend uitgegeven zijn en meerdere patronen hebben.

Opdrukken met een drietand - 1918

In 1918 heeft Oekraïne alle voorradige Russische zegels voorzien van een opdruk met een drietand. Naar schatting zijn er in totaal 1500 soorten verschillende opdrukken. In combinatie met het aantal verschillende zegels wordt het aantal mogelijkheden bijna onbeperkt.Om overzicht te behouden wordt hier de volgende systematiek gehandhaafd.

Basisverzameling

Deze basisverzameling is zichtbaar in het "Standaard" overzicht.

Van elke type zegel wordt er een met opdruk toegelaten. Er wordt niet gelet op vorm en/of kleur.

Gevorderde en expert verzamelaars van Oekrainse zegels maken onderscheid tussen de regio's, type en sub-type. Conform internationale gewoonte worden de opdrukken per regio ingedeeld. Klassieke indelingen gebruiken Romeinse cijfers als type aanduiding. Voor leesbaarheid worden die hier vervangen door (meestal overeenstemmende) Arabische cijfers conform Bulat.

Omdat dezelfde opdruk kan voorkomen op meerdere varianten van een zegel mag alleen verwijzen worden naar het basisnummer daarvan. Dit is optioneel.

Verwijzen naar een speciaal catalogus mag onder vermelding van de naam/auteur van de catalogus.

Voor de Odessa type 5 en 6 heeft Bulat de subtypes van Seichter tot eigen types (5 t/m 8) verheven. Hontsarjoek volgt Bulat maar geeft in de catalogus een ander indeling (onduidelijk is of dit een zetfout is, of opzettelijk). De meeste verzamelaars gebruiken de Seichert en/of Bulat methodiek. Voor de classificering volgt LD Bulat (en Seichert). De nummers voor specifieke zegels verwijzen op dit moment voornamelijk naar Hontsarjoek, maar worden vanwege eenduidigheid in de komende periode omgezet naar Bulat..

Opdrukken met een drietand - 1992

In 1992 hebben diverse regionale postkantoren in Oekraïne voorradige Russische zegels voorzien van een diverse opdrukken om de onafhankelijkheid aan te geven, meestal in combinatie met een nieuwe nominale waarde. Daarnaast zijn er een aantal provisorisch postzegels gedrukt met relatief primitieve middelen. Officieel zijn alleen de overdrukken van een drietand in een schild, gedrukt in Kiev en Lviv met boekdruk, officieel geauthoriseerd. In LastDodo zijn alle zegels welkom zolang ze authentiek zijn (zie met name de catalogus van Lobko).

Omdat in Kiev en Lviv gebruik werd gemaakt van dezelfde drukplaten is het verschil tussen beide alleen te zien aan de hand van kleurvariaties. Een bijkomende moeilijkheid is dat ook binnen de drukken van Kiev en Lvov er al kleurvariaties bestaan. Vergelijkbaar met de aanpak van de drietanden uit 1918 nemen we daarom een basisverzameling op in het "Standaard" overzicht. Alle andere zegels horen onder "Regionaal".

Basisverzameling

Deze basisverzameling is zichtbaar in het "Standaard" overzicht. Alleen de basiszegel is opgenomen. Varianten, kopstaande versies en specifieke plaats aanduiding horen hier niet bij. De serie overdrukken uit Lviv bestaat uit 10 opdrukken. De serie uit Kiev uit 12 (extra zijn: 050#2 en 500#3). Overigens neemt Hontsarjoek 5_00#3 wel op bij de uitgifte uit Lviv, maar zonder te vermelden hoe deze te onderscheiden is. Lobko geeft iets meer aanknopingspunten, maar het onderscheid blijft lastig.
