In 1978 werd de ANDS (Algemene Nederlandse Dans Sociëteit) opgericht door dansleraar Jacob Meijer en horecaondernemer Sjerp Jissink. In 1980 werd het woord "Onderwijs" toegevoegd en werd het een vakorganisatie voor dansleraren en dansscholen. Vanaf 1979 werden er medaltesten, danswedstrijden, congressen en seminars gehouden. Samenwerking met de NDA (Nederlandse Dansleraren Associatie) resulteerde in de oprichting van de FND: Federatie Nederlandse Dansbonden. Later werden vanuit de ANDOS opgericht de "Stichting Danssportpromotie Friesland"; de Nederlandse Vereniging van Scrutineers", seniorenwedstrijdbond "DansCasino" en de European Amateur Dancesport Organisation EADO.
De ANDOS gaf ten behoeve van de wedstrijddansers een magazine uit geheten DANSNIEUWS en voor de dansleraren het vakblad DANSPANORAMA.Dezen werden door Cost A.W. op de computer gemaakt en dan gedrukt.
Voorts gaf ze diverse boeken uit op danstechnisch gebied, maar er was ook een uitgave over hartreanimatie.
De ANDOS is de enige Nederlandse organisatie die zowel dansleraren als amateur wedstrijddansers in één club had. Ook zijn er officiële Nederlandse Kampioenschappen gehouden, zowel bij de amateurs als bij de professionals. Jan Postulart haalde bij de ANDOS zijn eerste Kampioenstitel in Nederland.
De ANDOS vertegenwoordigd Nederland bij de International Dance Sport Association.

The ANDS (Algemene Nederlandse Dans Sociëteit) was founded in 1978 by dance teacher Jacob Meijer and catering entrepreneur Sjerp Jissink. In 1980 the word "Education" was added and it became a trade union for dance teachers and dance schools. From 1979, medal tests, dance competitions, congresses and seminars were held. Collaboration with the NDA (Dutch Dance Teachers Association) resulted in the establishment of the FND: Federation of Dutch Dance Unions. Later on, the "Stichting Danssportpromotie Friesland" was established from the ANDOS; the Dutch Association of Scrutineers", senior competition association "DansCasino" and the European Amateur Dancesport Organization EADO.
The ANDOS published a magazine for the competition dancers called DANSNIEUWS and the professional magazine DANSPANORAMA for the dance teachers. These were made by Cost AW on the computer and then printed.
She also published several books in the field of dance technology, but there was also a publication on cardiac resuscitation.
The ANDOS is the only Dutch organization that had both dance teachers and amateur competition dancers in one club. Official Dutch Championships have also been held, both for amateurs and professionals. Jan Postulart took his first Championship title in the Netherlands at the ANDOS.
The ANDOS represents the Netherlands at the International Dance Sport Association.
