British Trix belonged to the Courtaulds Group based in Wrexham in Wales. When track N took off in Germany in the early 1960s, British Trix started producing English N models under the name Minitrix. After a few years in 1967 British Trix was sold to Trix in Germany but they handed over the management in England to Ernst Rosza, who had developed the English models. At the end of 1971, Trix had to reorganize and production in England stopped. In 1972 Trix was bought by Mangold GmbH. The new owner wanted to sell Minitrix in England and found an importer in Rovex who sold Minitrix from 1973 under the name Hornby Minitrix, because Hornby was a well-known name in England. New models were needed and to save costs new locomotives were built on German model chassis. In 1987 Euro Models & Toys took over the importership and the Hornby name part then expired. In 1993 Bachmann took over the business until 1997. In that year Trix was bought by Märklin. When Bachmann bought Graham Farish, neither Bachmann nor Märklin were more interested in preserving Minitrix in England.
