Walter Becker is an American rock guitarist, songwriter and record producer. In 1972 he started the formation "Steely Dan" with Donald Fagen, in which he played guitar and bass.

Becker met his future songwriting partner Donald Fagen while studying at Bard College (Annandale-on-Hudson). After a short period of activity in New York, the duo moved to California in 1971 and formed the core of Steely Dan. They had a successful career there that lasted ten years. After the dissolution of Steely Dan, Becker moved to Hawaii and his musical activities diminished. However, he was mainly active as a record producer.

Becker and Fagen reunited and re-formed the group Steely Dan in 1993. They remained active and this resulted in the album "Two Against Nature" (2000) which won four Grammy Awards. Becker also released two solo albums: "11 Tracks of Whack" in 1994 and "Circus Money" in 2008.
