ATI, an abbreviation of American Tortoise Inc. in Farmingdale, New York, started in 1969 as an importer and distributor of Minitrix in the United States (multiple importers are not uncommon in the US). ATI issued its own Minitrix catalogs: both the Minitrix and ATI names were on it. In the mid-1970s, ATI also started importing Lima and Mehano, allowing ATI to sell mixed sets of Minitrix wagons and Mehano locomotives. These mixed ATI sets were a cheaper alternative to the Minitrix sets. For the Lima models, ATI initially used the brand name PMI, an abbreviation of Precision Models of Italy. However, ATI never sold PMI sets or mixed sets with PMI models. PMI cars were sold separately. Nevertheless, there were a few sets for sale in Toys'R Us stores with four Lima freight cars.
In 1977, the Model Power name was introduced as an umbrella brand for all N models, but the Model Power catalog still bore the names Minitrix and PMI. When Model Power ended the import of Lima locomotives, the PMI name disappeared and Lima cars were sold as Model Power cars. After 1983/85 production went to Hong Kong where exact copies were made without the Lima name on the bottom. After 2000, Model Power had its own models produced in China, but in 2014 Model Power was sold to MRC.

ATI introduced now mixed sets with Minitrix cars and Mehano locomotives. These mixed sets, marketed as ATI sets, were a cheaper alternative for Minitrix sets. For the Lima models ATI used initially the brand name PMI, an abbreviation of Precision Models of Italy, for a small assortment of American Lima models. However, ATI never sold PMI sets or mixed sets with PMI models. PMI cars were sold separately although some ATI sets exist sold in Toys'R Us shops, consisting of four Lima freight cars.
In 1977 the name Model Power was introduced as an umbrella for all N gauge models but in the Model Power catalog the names Minitrix and PMI were still mentioned. When Model Power stopped importing Lima locomotives the name PMI was dropped and Lima cars were sold as Model Power models. However, after 1983/85 they were made in Hong Kong and are almost exact copies of the Lima models and the name Lima disappeared from the bottom of the cars. Diese gemischten Sets, since ATI Sets are sold and were one preisgünstige Alternative für die Minitrix Sets. Für ein beschränktes Sortiment Amerikanischer Lima Modelledie spoiled ATI den Marknamen PMI, eine Abkürzung von Precision Models of Italy.
