The screenplay for the first story of 'Ringo', a western story set in 1867, he wrote himself in 1965, the next one was provided by Jacques Acar . William Vance 's very detailed drawings, probably acquired in the advertising world where he first worked, are already visible here.
This was followed by a few short stories by either Acar, Yves Duval or AP Duchâteau for publication in the then popular Tintin pocketbooks . A third story followed in 1978, in fact a bundling and reworking of the 5 short stories by Duchâteau on the occasion of the re-release of the series in album form.

This series was unfortunately stopped due to too much competition from other western toppers, including the Blueberry'' series by Charlier and Giraud and 'Jerry Spring' by Jijé.

There was also a certain confusion because in the same period a western series with the same name 'Ringo' was published in the Dutch comics magazine Sjors ! This series was created by Chilean artist Arturo Del Castillo and Argentine writer Héctor Oesterheld. The latter mysteriously disappeared during the military junta there.
