Dear forum members,

I often come across stationery in the archives with a round orange stamp in the left corner with the national coat of arms, year and then 30 cents, or 50 cents and a 1 guilder I have also seen.

I have already thought of prepaid stationery, some kind of stamp money, reply stamp?

I wouldn't call it a watermark because it is clearly printed and visible.

Thank you for all the tips and advice,

French

Hello Frans,

Does it look like the letter you can find under " https://www.bhic.nl/ discover / stories / the-last-kerosene lamp "? In that case it is clear. Letters to authorities, such as this petition, official documents, etc., had to be written on stamped paper, a kind of fee (read, source of income). So has nothing to do with stamps, but rather with taxation.
