In 1998 Lledo PLC took on board the UK distribution of the Kyosho manufactured 1:18 & 1:43 scale diecast sports car models. Their range of 1:43 scale models were specially packaged in Lledo ‘Vanguards Gold’ branded packaging designed to complement the ‘Vanguards’ range of 1950s and 60s vehicles. Lledo prefixed the existing Kyosho numbering range with the letters VG. Kyosho suffixed their numbers with a single letter that indicated the colour of the vehicle, i.e. G stood for green; R for red; B for blue; S for silver and K (as used by printers) for black.
All the models packed in ‘Vanguards Gold’ presentation boxes were limited editions of 3.000. With the demise of Lledo PLC in 1999 Kyosho appointed another distributor terminating a very short but interesting lifespan for ‘Vanguards Gold’.
