Safir is a former Belgian lager from the AB InBev brewery. The brand was introduced in 1939[1] by the De Gheest Brewery from Aalst. The beer brand became the main product of that brewery, especially after the Second World War, which became informally known as Brouwerij Safir. In 1979 Brouwerij De Gheest was taken over by Brouwerij Artois. Production moved to Leuven in 1988, under the promise that the brand would continue to exist.
