Main character from the comic strip The Adventures of Captain Rob, drawn and conceived by Pieter Kuhn (1910-1966). Studio Eke van Mansvelt. Plaques depicting captain Rob and his dog Skip at various places in the pavement (including at the Brandaris ferry harbor). Pieter Kuhn's visits to Terschelling resulted in no fewer than three comic strips: 'The secret of the Boschplaat', 'The discovery of Krijn Storm' and 'The secret of the Wester backgrounds' stories that largely take place on and around the island of Terschelling. No area in the world gets as much attention from Kuhn as this island. Terschelling inspired Kuhn. In 1999 the Kapitein Rob walking route was realized in West-Terschelling. This route takes the guests through West-Terschelling past places such as Captain Rob saw on Terschelling in the 1950s. These places are indicated in the village by means of tiles placed in the road surface. The Zeeschuim Foundation in West-Terschelling took the initiative and carried out the project. This foundation is no longer active, but the stones are still there.
