Vermillion, LHD. Registration 75-GT-80 (Dutch)
The 1275GT modelled was a British Leyland press-fleet and publicity vehicle which, when new in July 1979, was photographed comprehensively on the Motor Industry Research Association (MIRA) test track near Nuneaton in Warwickshire. The photos featured ‘Saskia’, a Birmingham-based model, real name Pat Parkes, dressed in denim hot pants and a cropped t-shirt whilst carrying a crash helmet and leaning on the car. This 1275GT has been researched in detail for Corgi Vanguards by the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust. They discovered the pictures whilst preparing their new photographic archive website, www.motorgraphs.com, a resource for enthusiasts and historians full of archive photographs from the British motor industry’s fascinating and varied past.
There are two versions of this model; VA13504A a Right Handed Drive version, VA13504B a LHD Dutch version.
