Original editorial cartoon on board in pen and ink, published in the London Evening News, 1942, as one of the World War Two ‘Smiling Through’ series, shows two private soldiers walking past two military policemen. MPs were extremely unpopular among regular soldiers, and no doubt the two soldiers are wishing something very unpleasant on them in their thoughts. ‘And you!’ is the response from the MPs, who know very well what the soldiers are probably thinking. Board size 40 x 27.5 cm (16 x 11 inch), image size 36 x 27 cm, signed lower right, caption in ink in lower border and dated on right border 23-10-42, numbered 2561. Some board loss at lower corners otherwise in good condition.
