Original drawing on paper in pen and ink, 1961, possibly published in the Saturday Evening Post or the New York Times, of Diosdado Macapagal. Drawing on white paper is pasted onto a larger piece of paper which states on verso: ‘Kroll Karicature Service, Diosdado Macagapal (note misspelling), President-elect of the Philippines’, and a stamped New York address. Macapagal served as President of the Philippines between 1961 and 1965. Kroll, who left Germany in 1933 when the Nazis came to power, became a ‘celebrity caricaturist’ in the USA who drew caricatures of thousands of public figures in America and around the world. Paper size 15 x 10 cm (6 x 4 inch), image size 9 x 6 cm, signed lower right. In good condition.
