GUR ARAB - COVENTRY When World War II broke out, Coventry had become a major centre fot the British Motor Industry. Because of this, many of the city's factories were turned over the war effort. With the destruction of the tram system in November 1940 and the increase in demand for transport, a solution was needed urgently. A large number of vehicles were initially hired to helpcope with the demand. But between 1941 and 1946, a batch of about 100 new buses, built mostly to a utility design, entered service. As well as other makes, 39 Guy Arabs were delivered with a variety of bodies. The enclosed model is based on bus 288, which carried a utility body and entered service in 1942. This particular vehicle was rebuilt to more relaxed postwar design in 1953 and was withdrawn from service in 1959. Limited Edition 5.598 pcs. (with certificate)
