Original editorial cartoon on card in pen/brush and ink, published in the Omaha World Herald, 1999, shows the Democrats Al Gore and Bill Bradley ‘running the race’ in the New Hampshire presidential primary in late 1999. As the incumbent vice-president, Gore had the advantage around the country, but not in New Hampshire: ‘I don't get it - by rights I should be way out front...’. Gore is standing on the shoulders of President Clinton who is running through mud, the mud representing the scandals affecting the Clinton administration, particularly the Monica Lewinsky affair. It would remain to be seen how Gore’s association with Clinton would affect his chances of the Democratic nomination and of winning the subsequent election. Card size 38 x 28 cm (15 x 11 inch), image size 31.5 x 21.5 cm, signed and dated lower right. In excellent condition.
