Original editorial cartoon on hatched card in pen/brush and ink, published in the Omaha World Herald, 2000, shows Uncle Sam in a hot air balloon, the ‘Projected Budget Surplus’, being weighed down by a huge bag, ‘Congressional Spending’. Although there was no government deficit in the year 2000, there appears to be concern that this may well happen and, very shortly after George W. Bush became president, it did. Card size 38 x 28 cm (15 x 11 inch), image size 32 x 22 cm, signed and dated lower right. In excellent condition.
