Original editorial cartoon on card in pen/brush and ink, published in the Omaha World Herald, 1995, shows a couple huddling under an umbrella as the pillars of Social Security are beginning to crumble above them. This probably refers to the government ‘shutdowns’ which occurred in November and again in December 1995 as a result of conflicts between Democratic President Bill Clinton and the Republican Congress over funding for Medicare, education, the environment, and public health in the 1996 federal budget. Card size 38 x 28 cm (15 x 11 inch), image size 30 x 20 cm, signed and dated lower left. In excellent condition.
