Original editorial cartoon on card in pen/brush and ink, published in the Omaha World Herald, 1996, shows Boris Yeltsin at an election rally playing the saxophone. In 1996 Yeltsin stood for re-election as President of the Russian Federation. Despite his poor health he campaigned with surprising energy and took a leaf out of Bill Clinton’s book, as someone is commenting: ‘Come to think of it he has been hanging around Clinton quite a bit...’ and he is shown asking the band if they ‘know any Fleetwood Mac’, so trying to appeal to young voters. He was re-elected. Card size 38 x 28 cm (15 x 11 inch), image size 32 x 21.5 cm, signed and dated upper right. In excellent condition.
