Original cartoon in ink on heavyweight paper, 1980, shows Soviet leader Brezhnev marching into Afghanistan with a map of the country in his hand. Refers to the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan in December 1979 which would result in some countries (including the USA) boycotting the Moscow Olympics of 1980. It was also feared that the Soviet invasion would pose a threat to oil supplies from the middle east. Titled in the bottom margin and signed lower left. Paper/image size 37 x 29 cm (14.5 x 11.5 inch), very good condition.
