Details

Alfred Molet born in Cattenières in 1850 and died in 1917 is a chemical engineer. Expatriate in Argentina, he creates a cannery and operates a calcium mine. In 1899, he created the Compaña Molet de Carburo de Calcio1, which produced calcium carbide in a factory built on the banks of the Río Primero, near and upstream from the city of Córdoba2. In order to supply this factory with electricity, he had a hydroelectric dam built on the river in the early years of the twentieth century - the current Museo Usina Molet was installed in the premises of the hydroelectric plant thus developed2. In disagreement with his partners, Molet sells his shares and leaves the management of the company in 19052. Alfred Molet continues his action in the railways, and in 1908 obtains a railway concession which authorizes him to build two lines. through the provinces of Misiones and Corrientes 3. Alfred Molet is buried in Recoleta cemetery in Buenos-Aires.
