Original Czech political/propaganda cartoon done on card in pen/brush and ink, around 1946, but could be later, probably published in ‘Rude Pravo’ (Czech communist newspaper), shows leaders of the western states behind ‘bars’ (from left to right: US secretary of state Dean Acheson, president Truman, British foreign secretary Ernest Bevin, British prime minister Clement Attlee (?), Winston Churchill and Charles de Gaulle). Truman is rather gingerly clutching an atomic bomb and the writing below states (roughly) that ‘governments which make use of atomic weapons should be deemed war criminals’. Framed and matted for an overall size of 52 x 44 cm, image size 34 x 24.5 cm, signed top right, in very good condition
