For all of those executive high rollers who played this electronic Bridge Challenger game in the 1980s, this article will take you back to those days. It was made by Fidelity Electronics who were renowned for high quality computerised games, consequently this unit is designed and built well. It has lasted all these years in a fully working condition, however there are not very many Bridge players left! The electronic circuit design of this game was built around the Zilog Z80 CPU which was used on some of the early home computers such as the ZX81. For today's standards a Z80 is still a good processor and used on a wide range of embedded systems. With this game you can expect a high quality VFD display which is very bright and clear. There is also an RFID scanner to scan the tags on the cards to read them so you won't have to enter the card values manually - pure luxury if you ask me... This game also has a voice synthesizer and can speak to you! Though I would expect the vocabulary to be limited to the Bridge terms. The Bridge Challenger can often be seen on eBay and they tend to sell fast as there are still some Bridge players around. If you are really into the game of Bridge then this gadget might be a bargain for you.
