Details
French, late 1st quarter 20th century, with a metal trade label on the front imprinted "Stereoscope Magnetique PLANOX." Made of dark stained mahogany, 10 1/2" wide x 11 1/4" deep x 17 1/2" high overall, and designed to use special 20-slide trays for 6x13cm glass stereo slides. In this viewer, a spring-loaded metal strip (barette) is applied to the top of each slide. When the operating lever at the right side is slide down, two strong magnets, attached to the lower edge of a dark slide, pick up the metal strip and hold the slide as it is elevated into viewing position. Near the end of the down stroke, a simple ratchet indexes the slide tray one notch. As the magnets move horizontally, one slide is wiped off and the next picked up. The viewer has adjustable eyepieces, and rack & pinion focussing. Included with the machine are seven trays filled with slides. This attractive Planox Stereoscope Magnetique is in good working condition
