BMW's second generation E30 3 Series was launched in late 1982 and offered customers a larger range than the previous E21. This encompassed an in-house built full Cabriolet as well as the Touring estate, the 325 IX all-wheel-drive and the legendary M3, which was developed for motor sport use. Towards the end of E30 production BMW produced a limited run of only 250 Motorsport Technology Edition Cabriolets as modelled here. The cars featured sport seats, MSport Suspension, a subtle M-Tech 2 bodykit and a limited slip differential, but used the standard 325i engine. They were only available in the motor sport range of colours, all of which were named after racing circuits.
