Comtoise clock with enamel dial land brass embossed dial mask. The scene on the brass plate represents “War and Peace”. The date of the clock is approximately 1870. The hands, the bell, the side doors and the back plate are all original. The enamel dial is in very good condition and has no cracks. The movement has an anchor escapement and strikes the on the typical French striking method; full hours at the hour passing which is repeated after 2 minutes. The movement also strikes the half hours. The dial is signed ‘Bauriner’ (or something like that) and ‘Lavaur’. Lavaur is a small village in France close to Toulouse.
