Details

The village of Morgon is located immediately south of the illustrious Fleurie. There we find the very best vineyard of this appellation; the 'Côte du Py'. An ancient volcano extinct for centuries, the bottom of which consists almost entirely of granite. Maurice Gaget's vineyards are located in the middle of this famous 'Côte du Py'. He also owns a plot on the 'Grands-Cras' vineyard. Before he decided to bottle independently in 1984, his (Gamay) grapes went to the large local cooperative, but because of the potential of his plots, he decided to opt for the adventure. Well, he has more than succeeded in that. Maurice Gaget's wines are a model of fine Morgon's. Maurice Gaget works with his son Mikaël on the old family business. He himself can usually be found in the vineyard while son Mikaël interferes with sales and vinification. A beautiful duo!
