Beautiful lithograph from: Scenes of country estates and buildings located between the City of Utrecht and the Grebbe drawn by M. Mourot 1829. This is one of the most important 19th century topographical publications about Utrecht, its most beautiful buildings and residents. Michel Mourot (Metz 1802 - Utrecht 1847) - was born in Metz in 1802. At the beginning of the 19th century, the famous French lithographer and publisher Desguerrois moved from Brussels to Amsterdam. In 1827 Michel Mourot draws / lithographs prints that are put on stone at Desguerrois in Amsterdam. Mourot becomes a leading lithographer - mainly focuses on displaying special topographical, historical events and portraits (including Sophia Louisa Wilhelmina Maria Prinses Der Nederlanden 1837 and Willem I Frederik the later King Willem I 1838) In 1844 Mourot married Aleijda van de Weijer, a sister of Pieter Willem van de Weijer and Johannes Hermanus van de Weijer. These brothers later became important 19th century lithographers and publishers in Utrecht and Groningen. Mourot died in 1847. The following signatures on Mourot lithographs occur: Mourot and Desguerrois (Amsterdam 1822 (!) - 1842) Mourot and Comp (Den Bosch 1835 - 1836) Mourot and Van Lieshout (Den Bosch 1835 - 1836) Mourot and Houtman (Utrecht 1829 - 1847)
