In 1988 he had a first exhibition in "Ruimte Morguen", near the MUHKA in Antwerp. In 1992 his international breakthrough followed in the Kunsthalle in Bern and with his participation in "Documenta IX" in Kassel. In 1995 he exhibited for the first time in the US and in 2004, as the first living Belgian painter, he had an exhibition in "Tate Modern". One year later, his work "Sculpture" won the 1.1 million Euro prize at an auction at Sotheby's.
