Schonk, J.Th. - Jan (1889-1976) 1889 Johannes Theodorus was born in Schiedam on June 11, 1889. Attended classes at the Academy of Visual Arts and Technical Sciences in Rotterdam. In 1925 they started forming pots that were baked in Schoonhoven. He was then employed by NV Plateelbakkerij Zuid-Holland in Gouda from the end of 1925 to the beginning of 1930. In addition to relief tiles and animal sculptures, he also designs decorative vases. After 1931, Schonk devoted himself entirely to graphic art. With his woodcuts, lithographs and etchings, Schonk can be called one of the most important graphic artists of the 20th century. Died in Soest on November 12, 1976.
